Research & Scholarly Excellence

As part of the Center for Inclusive Excellence’s (CIE) mission to support inclusive excellence as an institutional value and as a fundamental and necessary ingredient for research and scholarship excellence and innovation, the CIE hosts several initiatives and programs to cultivate, support and recognize faculty. For Fall 2020, these include:

Thriving in the Academy: These monthly interactive workshops with the Chair of Inclusive Research and Scholarly Excellence center around curriculum from the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). The Thriving program is designed for SDSU faculty and staff from all colleges to support productivity, foster cross-campus networking, and provide a space to share and learn together, generating tangible products and strategies designed to help faculty and staff thrive in the academy. Sessions are noon-1:30pm, Oct 14 (Strategic planning - how to make the most of each semester), Nov 11 (Fostering writing and productivity), Dec 9 (Managing stress), Feb 10 (Mastering time management), March 17 (Cultivating mentors and networks) and April 14 (Engaging in healthy conflict).

Dedicated Writing Space (DWS): DWS provides a space and a community support network for faculty and staff who are looking to set aside time each week for writing and to support their productivity. DWS time is unstructured and yours to command - no programming or presentations. Register by Sept 14. Questions welcome (email [email protected])!

 

Two monthly online programs feature and recognize faculty excellence, featured on the SDSU website.

Science and Scholarship of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: SDSU faculty are leaders in the science and scholarship that forms the foundation for why diversity on campuses is critical to innovation and excellence. Online stories will feature SDSU faculty whose scholarship and research uncovers the links between diversity and excellence. 

Innovation and Excellence: This features SDSU faculty whose work embodies innovation and excellence, serving to recognize and amplify the innovative work by SDSU faculty who are leaders in their field, producing transformative and innovative research and scholarship.
